Engineering portfolio · Product-minded builder

I build software that survives contact with the real world.

I take messy operational problems from field conversation to working software — requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and iteration. My work spans commercial agriculture, edge/sensor systems, public safety and business operations.

Flagship systems

Not tutorial apps.
Operational software.

Each project started with a real-world operating problem. The common thread is turning complicated workflows or telemetry into something a person can actually use under pressure.

PAID · COMMERCIAL DEPLOYMENT
Cattle Handler™Livestock operations / treatment / reporting

From ranch workflow to deployed product.

Designed around a cattle operator’s actual receiving and treatment workflow rather than forcing the operation into generic herd software. The system handles rapid entry, pen/owner context, treatment history, medicine workflows, reporting, auditability and role-based access.

EDGE / SENSOR R&D
RIGR™Sensor fusion / operator readiness / evidence

Make complex telemetry useful at a glance.

RIGR is an edge-readiness prototype built around a simple idea: sensors should not force an operator to interpret five independent data streams. The system normalizes telemetry, tracks provenance and trust, detects stale/faulty sources, supports offline operation, explains readiness state and exports mission evidence.

PUBLIC SAFETY PROTOTYPE
Station Handler™Apparatus / people / equipment readiness

Know before the emergency.

Station Handler explores a station-level readiness layer that can connect apparatus condition, monitoring freshness, roster/training status and equipment into one operational view. The architecture separates battery health from monitoring health so stale telemetry cannot masquerade as a green status.

AI-native without surrendering ownership

I use AI as a force multiplier.

I do not treat generated code as the finished product. I define the problem, requirements, system boundaries and acceptance criteria; inspect and revise implementation; reproduce failures; test workflows; deploy releases; and support the user. AI accelerates the loop — it does not replace engineering judgment.

That matters because the work here is not measured by how much code was typed manually. It is measured by whether the system behaves correctly when a customer, sensor, network or field workflow does something unexpected.

01 · DiscoverTalk to the person doing the work.

Translate field language and business pain into requirements and constraints.

02 · ArchitectDefine boundaries before features.

Data models, state, access, integrations, failure behavior and evidence paths.

03 · ValidateAssume the happy path will break.

Reproduce defects, isolate causes, test stale/offline/failure states and guard data.

04 · OperateShip it and own what happens next.

Deployment, user feedback, release iteration, support and field hardening.

Technical range

Builder first.
Stack second.

I am strongest where software meets a real workflow and somebody needs a working answer, not just a ticket moved across a board.

Product engineering

JavaScript / HTML / CSS

Custom web applications, responsive interfaces, stateful workflows and deployed prototypes.

Backend / data

Firebase + basic SQL

Cloud data, authentication, role-based behavior, data modeling, reporting and basic relational querying.

Systems / integration

BLE, APIs & offline behavior

Sensor ingestion, normalized packets, provenance, gateways, sync, stale-data handling and integration seams.

Quality / delivery

Testing, Git & deployment

Defect reproduction, installer/release experience, version control, Firebase Hosting and iterative field support.

Background that shows up in the software

Engineering judgment built outside a classroom.

My path is unconventional, and that is useful. I have spent years in IT/software testing, property claims, oilfield operations and cattle. I understand why field users ignore software that slows them down — and how expensive ambiguity becomes when the work is real.

SOFTWARE / IT · 5 YEARS

Help desk, testing and release support

Windows support, defect reproduction, installer tooling, Jenkins, version control, scripting and communicating technical issues to end users.

OPERATIONS · 8 YEARS

Oilfield lease operations

Independent troubleshooting and ownership of production assets where reliability, prioritization and field judgment matter.

REMOTE ANALYSIS · 2019–PRESENT

Property claims / file review

Structured analysis, documentation quality, independent decision-making and remote deadline-driven work.

FOUNDER · 2026–PRESENT

Inselman Digital LLC

Customer discovery, product design, custom development, deployment, demos, proposals and commercial support.

For hiring managers

Give me a hard operational problem and ownership of the outcome.

I am most useful in product engineering, solutions engineering, forward-deployed engineering, implementation or technical roles where talking to users and shipping the right system matter as much as writing code.
